1. A Note From Margo: Chance to Win $250

Here
is a chance to win a $250 Amazon card by revealing the most bonehead
thing you have done while traveling with your RV. LetsRV.com, an affiliate of the RV industry newsletter, RV Daily Report, sponsors this challenge.
Following is a quote from the page where you enter your bonehead adventure:
“We've
all done silly things with our RVs. That's part of the adventure. But,
there are those mistakes from which legends are made. Think Jethro
Bodine meets Fred Flintstone and Barney Fife. They're the type of
mistakes so colossal that others talk about them years later around a
campfire. It's the kind of mistake that if there was a hall of fame for
boneheads, you'd stand a good chance of securing a nomination. So, fess
up! What is the biggest, dumbest, most bone-headed thing you've done as
an RVer?
You can attach up to THREE photos. This is optional.
Sometimes its best that photo evidence isn't shared. Submitting a photo
doesn't necessarily increase chances of winning. But, if it helps tell
the story, by all means, send them along.
If you have a long story, it might be best to write it in a word processor and paste it here.
Lesson learned -- So, what did you learn as a result of this colossal mistake?”
Entries are posted to the website and also appear in an
upcoming daily newsletter. Then, in early May, the Top 10 most viewed
submissions are entered into the final round of voting.
The entries are published in the daily edition of the Let’s RV newsletter throughout the month. The Top 10 most-viewed stories are listed in a the May 2 weekly edition of the Let’s RV newsletter. Readers vote for their favorites, and the story getting the most views wins the $250 Amazon gift certificate.
The winner receives the grand prize of $250. The other
finalists receive a $25 gift certificate. As a consolation for being a
good sport, the nine runners up receive a $25 gift certificate.
Be aware that some entries, whether finalists or not, may be included in an eBook produced by LetsRV.com (any compensation for this eBook participation is not revealed here).

2. RV Lifestyle: Special Group for the Under 65 Travelers
When
I started the full-time RV lifestyle back in 1996, most of the
travelers were between 45 and 65. The Boomers had not begun their
migration into the lifestyle yet. Joining the Escapees was one of the
first things I did because their magazine was invaluable with its tips
and articles for the full-time lifestyle. Now, most of us are over 65
and the younger generation gravitating to the full-time lifestyle have
different needs.
There
is also a much younger generation running the Escapee RV Club now. They
are reaching out to this younger crowd and making them feel at home.
The Xscapers is
a club within the original Escapees club that appeals to this next
generation of travelers. Anyone of any age can get involved. I certainly
joined up right away. Just change your member profile to add this group
and be included in all the activities.

3. RVing Nugget: Amazing Motorhomes
Yes, I found more of those exotic RV designs I am so fond of sharing.
Home is a Castle
How would you like to live in a castle? When art meets engineering, you get some surprising results.

Before it unfolds like a Transformer cartoon, it looks like this:

In just minutes, this house truck transforms into a castle. Yes, a castle in a truck. See for yourself in the video here.
The New Design in Toy Haulers
Introducing
the new revolutionary Alfa Gold "Side Hauler" Toy Hauler floorplans!
Finally a manufacturer has designed a 5th-Wheel toy hauler that does not
reduce interior livability for toy space.
For
years the requests have poured in from "mature" users of high-end
fifth-wheels for a trailer that can carry just one full size motorcycle
and not sacrifice the livability they desire for "extended stay" use.
Most
ask if they can carry their full size bike on a Hydralift mechanism on
the rear of the trailer as done on motorhomes. But this does not work on
5th-wheels due to the stress the weight of the bike creates with a
trailer
in motion.

Other configurations are possible for this sidehauler space, such as a kids room with bunk beds or a TV room.
Here it is, take a look at the YouTube video here.

4. RV Fun, Resources and News
Loners On Wheels
One of my readers commented that the last issue of
the eZine did not include an important support group for traveling solo.
Thank you, Karel, for bringing this group to my attention.
Loners on Wheels is
an RV club of single men and women who enjoy campouts, RVing, traveling
and spending time with other interesting people. "It's not a
find-a-mate, make-a-date club," emphasizes Christine Beliveau, President
of the Loners on Wheels (LoWs) Penn Chapter. It is a place where
companionship, friendship and hugs are offered with all
good intentions.
That said, the club rules state that members must be legally single and not traveling as part of a couple.
Read this article to learn more about this group.
5th-wheels and Tow-behinds Not Recommended for Women
There were also several comments from readers
wondering why I do not encourage women to pull 5th-wheels or tow-behind
trailers. Apparently some of my readers did not realize that my website,
RVLifeStyleExperts.com, and the RV Lifestyle eZine, are primarily designed for the wanna-be and just getting started RVers.
Of course, everyone needs support and can learn
something from most articles they read, but I feel a certain
responsibility to those just starting out on their new adventure, or are
just in the planning stage. The ability to enjoy and extend this
lifestyle is directly related to the amount of problems and incidents we
experience right from the beginning.
IMHO, 5th-wheels and tow-behinds represent more
problems for women than motorhomes, hence my stress on that area. Yes,
the financial investment is less in either form of trailer, but there
are nonetheless safety issues and plain physical strength required that
some women cannot handle alone. There are also women who can handle a
truck and trailer with ease. It is primarily about confidence and
exposure in the past. These women already know their capabilities,
so they do not need my input.
I have seen women who start and fail because the
problems seem overwhelming. If I can prevent this from happening even
for one woman, I am content. This is a great lifestyle for women
traveling alone. More women are realizing this every day and leaving
their other life behind to experience joy and freedom at last.
